Hey! I'm Gabriel, though most call me Gabo (GAH-boh).
I'm a Backend Software Engineer with a passion for technology.
I'm enthusiastic about learning CS in depth; from understanding why 0.1
+ 0.2
!= 0.3
, to discerning when to use NoSQL vs SQL (please don't ask me).
As part of a skilled backend team at Mudflap, a FinTech startup in Silicon Valley, I'm responsible for the development, maintenance, and scaling of the robust backend that powers our innovative app.
* From 2019 to 2021, I worked as a contractor through a software development agency, then transitioned as a full-time employee.At this leading mobile & web app development agency, I was responsible for developing scalable and maintainable software components, integrating user-facing elements with server-side logic, and managing various backend tasks across a couple of projects.
As a ServiceNow Javascript developer, I was responsible for building and deploying ServiceNow modules to meet business requirements. My job primarily involved custom application development, integration, data imports, workflow development, and scripting.
I began my tech career as a web analyst, using research and analytics to improve UX and workflows for Tracfone brand websites. Later, the team became more web-development oriented and I contributed to building a web platform whose goal was to automate internal company processes.
Apart from writing code for a loving (pun intended), I do some Ruby mentoring on Exercism every so often (and level up my own skills there, too).
I'm also occasionally drawn into Korner, a rising side project. As co-founder and CTO, I'm at the helm.
Outside of that, you'll find me wrapped up in chess, soccer, drumming, devouring movies and TV series, and getting lost in a good read.
I love teaching just as much as I love learning.
